Triangles, 148W, Lauwers Architects, Reusel, NL
Architectural firm Lauwers Ontwerp has commissioned Sunshield to provide sun protection for a country house in rural Reusel, located between Eindhoven (NL) and Turnhout (B). Two slat systems have been placed here, both triangular in shape.
The left louver system has an area of 8 m2, the right louver system measures 15 m2. The awnings each have a motor. They are operated independently of each other via a remote control.
For the louvers, the choice fell on the 148-W, a louver made of Western Red Cedar (WRC) with a width of 148 mm. Western Red Cedar wood has a straight grain, is lightweight, stable and durable.
With wood you have the choice between treating or not treating. Whether you're treating exterior wood with oil, lacquer, or stain, you'll need to repeat that treatment every 2-3 years.
If you choose not to treat the wood, the wood will become gray over time under the influence of sunlight and weather influences. The advantage of letting it age naturally is that you don't have to worry about it.
Untreated wood has been chosen for this rural villa. That choice had already been made on the drawing board, anticipating the aging of Western Red Cedar. And that works out very well.
The aluminium parts, such as the carriers, are coated in RAL 7021, black-grey anthracite. The jetmoulded nylon parts are in black.
