Multiple Louvers, 148W, Private Home, De Meern, NL
In the village De Meern, nowadays part of the municipality of Utrecht, a beautiful villa has been built. This detached house, a creation of the architects Bekhuis & Kleinjan, has a thatched, zigzag shaped roof.
Sunshield has fitted the windows of the two bedrooms at the front with wooden louvers from untreated Western Red Cedar. Untreated wooden louvers will turn grey over time. The advantages are that the wood is low in maintenance and has a natural appearance.
Wooden blades are available with different heights. The owner selected the 148-W for his home. Indeed, a louver with a width of 148 mm. Both louver systems are operated by a hard wired motor, and have a surface of about 10 m2 each.
At the request of the architect, the sides are provided with a cover. This reduces the light from the sides and also looks nice and sleek. The aluminium parts, including the covers, are coated in signal black (RAL 9004) with a gloss level of 30% – also known as mat. The jet moulded parts are black too.
Only recently, the back side of the villa was equipped with louvers too. More details of this project will follow. It is always nice to see when a customer comes back to you for a next project.
