Triangles, 98W Louver, Barn house, Leuth, NL
In Leuth in the province of Gelderland (NL), Sunshield has equipped a modern barn house with trapezoidal louvers. The movable outdoor slats are made of wood and fit in perfectly with the Scandinavian style of the timber-framed house.
The glass facade on the garden side faces south and is asymmetrically distributed. The smaller window on the left measures just under 3 m2. The window on the right is more than three times as large at 9 m2. Opening and closing is done with a remote control. This can be done steplessly.
The residents have therefore opted for wooden blades made of Western Red Cedar. Western Red Cedar wood is a durable, stable type of wood that is relatively light and easy to work with. The wooden louvers enhance the rustic appearance of the home.
Moreover, the Western Red Cedar wood has not been treated here. Untreated wood ages over time. That is a natural process under the influence of the weather. A major advantage of untreated wood is that it requires virtually no maintenance.
The louvers are of the 98W type, a slat with a width of 98 mm. When the slats are fully open, the view between the slats is 9 centimeters. The aluminum and plastic parts are white (RAL 9010), so that they fit seamlessly with the white-painted woodwork.
