Kings Langley, Hertfordshire, UK is the birthplace of Ovaltine, the soothing malt drink. The village is divided by the River Gade and endowed with a couple of beautiful lakes.

It is here, at one of these lakes, that a charming timber garden house is fitted with beautiful wooden louvers. By Sunshield, in collaboration with Contrasol. 

The client was looking for a way to control the light as much as possible. They also wanted to be able to fully close the shading at night. 

And since the windows are south facing, the louvres are also used for shading purposes. They found one system to rule them all.

The louver blind has a pentagon shape, with a base of slightly over 6,5 meters, and a height of 2 m. The entire system is operated by a motor with remote control.

The slat of choice here, is the 98-W louver made from Western Red Cedar, Clear and Better 2. Top notch quality wood with a straight grain, lightweight, stable and durable.

The 98-W has a width of 98 mm, and a step of 90 mm. The step size indicated the room between the louvers when these are fully opened.

The aluminium parts of the louver system are powder coated in RAL 7016. The plastic parts, the clips holding and tilting the louvers are black.
