Giethoorn

The picturesque Giethoorn is located in the top van the province Overijssel. Due to the waterways and many bridges, it is also called the Dutch Venice, popular with tourists from home and abroad.

Here, a modern barn house has been fitted with unique louvers. By Sunshield, commissioned by Van Dalfsen Construction in Hasselt, also based in Overijssel.

Three louver systems have been placed next to each other between the trusses of the front facade of the residence. The left and right have the shape of a right triangle.

The louver system in the middle is over five and a half meters high and rectangular. Only the top part is triangular, so that these louvers end with a point in the ridge of the roof.

Halfway the left facade there is a risalite. The large window above the entrance is three meters wide and three and a half meters high. The louver system prevents the vestibule from heating up.

Three louver systems have been placed on the rear facade, all triangular shaped. The two on the left side are each other's mirror image. The third one is a copy of the triangle on the front facade.

The residents have opted for the 150-E louver. This one has a blade with a width of 150 mm and a step size of 140. When the louvers are fully open, the view between the louvers is 14 cm.

The aluminium components are coated in RAL 9011. The degree of gloss combined with the fine structure mixed through the coating powder, give the graphite black colour a matt appearance.

The plastic parts, such as the clips that hold the louvers, are also black. All louver systems are driven by a motor, centrally controlled via home automation.
