88E Dormer Louver Solution, Helmond, NL

Sunshield designs and produces custom louver systems. Every project fulfills a wish or solves a problem. A problem with daylight management, heating by the sun or night sleep.

In our 24-hour economy, there are almost always lights on at night and there are people who need to sleep during the day. There is also a suitable solution for these kinds of situations.

Three types of louvers have been specially developed for blackout applications. These slats not only fall over each other, but also interlock.

These are the louvers 88-E, 107-E and 155-E. The type number refers to the width of the slat. The step size, the view between the slats when they are fully open, is 70, 90 and 140 mm respectively. 

There is always a louver type to suit your needs. Louver systems never fit completely into the wall. At right angles, 1 cm space is left, so that the louvers can tilt freely.

When it is necessary to darken by daylight, this gap can also be sealed. This is done with brushes. The blades simply rotate through the bristles of these brushes.

When the louvers are closed, the combination of interlocking slats and brushes ensures complete blackout.

Such combinations are used in conference rooms, theatres, (home) cinemas, and bedrooms. Such as with this house in Helmond (NL). A louver system has been installed in the dormer window here.

When the house was built, a sufficiently deep trench was not taken into account. That is why a fascia, a frame, has been placed around the slat system.

There was also no power supply available, so a solar-powered motor was used. The solar panel is nicely placed in the middle above the system, the operation is wireless.

The aluminum components, such as the louvers and fascia, are coated in RAL 7035, light grey. The plastic parts that hold and rotate the slats are also light grey.
