Multiple shapes, 155E, Janssen Bouwen, De Ringoven, Panningen, NL
Panningen is the largest village in the municipality of Peel en Maas (NL). It is located between the De Groote Peel national park and the Maas valley and offers outdoor enthusiasts a varied natural environment.
Here, a completely renovated brick factory has been fitted with unique louvers. By Sunshield, commissioned by Janssen Build | Develop, based on a design by Vermeer Architecten.
De Ringoven, as the building is called, is used by an organisation that provides services for and by disabled people. It houses day care centres, a studio shop and a restaurant.
The front façade is a curtain wall and consists mainly of glass. With seven corners and a surface area of over 90 m2, you can certainly call this an atypical shape.
This façade is fitted with six louver systems. First, four rectangles at the base with a large triangle on top. And finally, to the right of that, a trapezoidal system.
Each louver system has its own motor, the large triangle even has two. Users can easily open and close the louvers using a remote control. Or any desired position in between.
The profile of the applied 155-E louver is not completely flat but has a recess at the top. As a result, the slats not only overlap, but also fit into each other.
The aluminium parts are coated in RAL 7021. Due to the gloss level of 30%, the anthracite grey colour has a matt appearance. The plastic components, such as the clips that hold the slats, are black.
